Fire Code Consulting
New and existing buildings, when occupied, are required to meet the appropriate fire code. Many buildings, especially those that have been modified or the interior layout has been changed, may no longer meet all the requirements of the fire code. Where a building does not meet the fire code, the building owner has both the legal responsibility to comply and carries the liability in the case of an incident.
How PLC Can Help
PLC’s engineers have the technical knowledge of the fire codes applicable in both Canada, the United States and Internationally, to evaluate a building and determine its level of compliance.
Fire code consulting requires at minimum an evaluation of the following:
- Level of life safety
- Protection of hazards (including special processes and operations)
- Providing adequate exiting and protection of occupants and firefighters
- Inspection, testing and maintenance of fire/life safety systems
- Emergency planning
PLC can provide a Code Compliance Report which describes which building elements do not meet fire codes and provides recommended actions to become compliant.
