Hiring Director of US Operations

Role Description 

  • National leader responsible for the implementation of corporate strategies and meeting corporate goals and objectives as they relate to the United States; 
  • Providing oversight to Technical and Project Management staff in the United States and; 
  • Reporting to the V.P. President Engineering Services. 

 Experience: 

  • 5+ years of management experience; 
  • Active member of fire protection or other industry-based organization; 
  • Expert within at least one primary fire protection engineering service line; 
  • Involvement in the engineering community; and 
  • Experience in business planning, implementation and monitoring. 

 Education:  

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Science, Engineering; and  
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License. 

 Corporate Responsibilities 

  • Complete annual and long-term planning for the United States operations;  
  • Supporting with development and execution of the Corporate Business Plan; 
  • Develop and implement marketing plans and programs with direction from Marketing Department; 
  • Oversee US Sales and liaising with PLC Clientele; 
  • Developing annual budgets; 
  • Developing KPIs; 
  • Supporting and implementing management system initiatives and processes;  
  • Promoting the image and protecting the welfare of PLC in professional activities; 
  • Developing and overseeing the service delivery process, including training and execution; 
  • Reviewing and analyzing national performance; 
  • Ensuring adequate Technical and Project Management resources are maintained to execute projects within The United States in a timely manner; and 
  • Providing divisional performance updates to the President. 

 Management Responsibilities 

  • Providing leadership and management to the technical staff; 
  • Conducting timely performance reviews with technical staff and providing appropriate feedback; 
  • Manage staff by overseeing human resources activities for the United States including hiring policy, disciplinary policy and employee morale; 
  • Mentoring divisional staff; 
  • Have a clear understanding of the Engineering Services Process Matrix; 
  • Have a clear understanding of the Business Development Process Matrix; 
  • Have a clear understanding of the Proposal Development Procedure as applicable to project size and service type, including purpose and scope, responsibilities and accountabilities, relevant attachments, relevant training units, and relevant forms; and be able to apply the procedure as required. 
  • Have a clear understanding of the Engineering Services Procedure as applicable to project size and service type, including purpose and scope, responsibilities and accountabilities, relevant attachments, relevant training units, and relevant forms; and be able to apply the procedure as required; and 

 Skills 

  • Proficient and efficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PPT, etc.); 
  • Project management experience; 
  • Time management skills; 
  • Communication skills; 
  • Team player; and 
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply newly acquired skills. 

 Minimum Required Qualifications: 

  • Valid Driver’s License, onsite work is required on project sites; 
  • Literacy skills, be able to read, write and communicate proficiently in English; and 
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
